Ariel is on to 6th grade!

Ariel had a great year this year. She is finally learning how to use her augmentative communication device (talk box for short). On a resent field trip she used her switch all by herself to answer a question of how many pets she had. I actually started crying. To finally see her do it on her own with out any one helping was overwhelming. My greatest wish for her is that she can learn to communicate with everyone NOT just her family. She is so bright, funny, stubborn and adorable it is hard not to let her get away with things just because she is "handicapped". Well on to the 6th grade more great things to come for sure.

Michaela's final interview for 1st grade

Michaela what will you remember most about 1st grade? "My friends Lucus, Kenny, Isaiah, Natalie and Anna, and how Mr. Hansen sat with me to teach me how to read."
What was your favorite subject? "Art, Math and Reading"
What did you not like about 1st grade? "PE and Music" Why? "PE because you have to run and sit out if you wear flip flops and music because I hate the warm ups."
What was one thing you thought was way cool about your classroom with Mr. Mike? "We had bugs in our classroom. Earthworms and crickets."
Boy want to learn something about your child sit down with them one on one and ask them questions. She is becoming such a little lady. Sweet, kind, shy, reserved and beautiful sum up my Michaela. She had a fantastic year and loved her teacher Mr. Mike. We are looking forward to 2nd grade but as she told me today I wish things could stay the same. Don't we all Michaela!

Interview with a preschool grad Bailey

So Bailey what will you remember most about preschool? "The parties, and the kitchen center."
What was your favorite time of the day? "Free time in the kitchen."
What did you not like about preschool? "Small group time" Why? "because in little groups it is boring."
What do you always want to remember about preschool? "Our play Goldilocks and the three bears, and I am going to miss Miss Katie."
She is growing up so fast. I wish we could bottle more of her now. Bailey is definitely our drama queen, prissy, sweet, temperamental red head. How do we keep them small?? If anyone has an answer please shoot it my way.

Interview with a preschool grad Easton

So Easton what will you remember most about preschool? "Learning about everything."
What were your favorite things to do in preschool? "Playing with legos and bean thingies."
What did you like least about preschool? "Circle time" Why? "because we had to sit down."
What do you always want to remember about preschool? "Playing with legos, and being papa bear, mama bear and baby bear in the play Goldilocks and The Three Bears. I played them all."
Isn't he the cutest dang thing. My baby is on his way to be a kindergartner! He and Miss Katie had such a special bond this year. I hope he remembers just a little bit about her when he gets big.

Mighty cute bat girl

So as all of you know Joe is the varsity coach for Mesa High School. For the first year Michaela got to be the bat girl. Talk about a little cutie. She was actually really shy at first but after a couple of innings she was a solid pro. She is so looking forward to getting to do it again next year. The only problem is going to be that Easton and Bailey are chomping at the bit to do it too. Next year she is going to have to rotate with them. I know Joe really got a kick out of having her in the dug out with him. Best part is it is only the beginning!

Michaela goes to the zoo

So I had the honor of taking Michaela to the Phoenix Zoo with her class. She says the monkey mom with the baby monkey were her favorites and just acting goofy overall with her friends was great. Her group especially got a kick out of Michaela's mom getting in trouble. Who knew when they sent home the letter that said the kids were not to bring money they meant the parents too?? It was a hot day and I got them all snowcones. Boy did I get myself in trouble. I didn't think far enough ahead that the rest of the class would want one too. Chalk one up to a learning experience. We had a great day and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful daughter:)
